So, I’m on a conference call this afternoon…a sales call, for a new third-party software solution for something or other that our company really doesn’t need, but feels they should spend $300K+ on. I HATE salespeople! I hate being pitched an idea from someone who knows less than I do on a topic (shit, less than my toenail clippings know!), and being talked down to, like I couldn’t possibly understand something this complex. You’ve all been through this at some point.
What stuck out today was “that’s a good question.” Everything I asked was met with “that’s a very good question…” and then an explaination. No shit it was a good question! I asked it! I’m not a mental freakin’ midget! I stopped asking dumb questions a long time ago! Come over here and kiss my ass a bit more!
Another variation on that one: “That is a very good point.” Ummm..duh! Oxygen and time are too precious to waste on making bad points…and, whoa, I’m capable of making a good point! well, what do you know? better keep an eye on this one….I might be going places!
