pride of ownership
5 days ago we were renters. we are homeowners now.
I’ve always said that there were tons of things in our apartment that I wanted to fix, but why would I help increase the value of someone else’s home? Well, as homeowners the to do list is long, but we’ve already gotten a jump on it…
Thursday night, after we closed, we started painting the living room and dining room. Everything in the house is cream and white, so the sage in the living room and the mocha/denim in the dining room is making the house wake up and realize that we’re not screwin’ around! We still need to do the trim, but we had to move in…
We got screwed by U-haul (a post to come…read Erika’s account): it’s called U-haul because you have to come up with another way to haul your stuff.
We did get a lot of help moving though. Su and Jessie, Erika’s folks, and my mom and stepdad all pitched in and we got most of the apartment moved the first day. There’s probably three more trips with my Jeep and we’ll be done with the apartment.
I’m expecting a call from Home Depot any minute to make sure I’m ok: I didn’t go there today and spend an insane amount of money. No worries, the house will keep me going back.
The next task: the master bedroom. This is going to be a full-on demolition project. There will be plenty of pictures and updates….
ok…back to MNF and the Pats. Tomorrow morning I get to do my new commute…I need to get up at 5:45 to do it, but it’s all good…

Let me know if any projects have a sledgehammer involved. I am sooo in the mood to smash something.

Congrats! Enjoy the new house! Zip and I are loving the quiet… just getting away from noisy neighbors and being able to paint the walls something other than white is such a blessing!
