*blows the dust and cobwebs off of what used to resemble a blog*

I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year (hell, I haven’t posted in weeks, so I hope you had a happy holiday — whatever you choose to celebrate).

We had a great, whirlwind holiday season. We went to Long Island on Christmas Eve, and spent a few days there with Erika’s family (it was our nephew Jonah’s first Christmas), and then we came back up to MA to see my mom and stepdad.

We spent the next few days remodeling the downstairs bathroom, and freshening up the kitchen. What started as a smaller project became a down-to-the-wire complete remodel that felt that we were on Trading Spaces or While You Were Out — I was still cleaning up and testing the plumbing when guests started to show up for our NYE party. Check out some pictures of our handiwork.

We had about 12 people over for NYE and had a great time. As always with us, when it comes to preparing for parties and gatherings, we don’t fuck around, so we had way too much food and *gasp* too much too drink. I’m not saying that we drank too much, but that I have a small liquor store in a few coolers on our back porch. I tried to set up my webcam to snap shots of the evening, but they came out really dark and blurry. That’s okay, as there wasn’t much to report — just a bunch of low-key fun, and a couple of freezing folks on the porch.

— Erika just leaned over and asked if i was actually going to post this, because I’ve been typing this for about 30 minutes — I haven’t typed anything in about two weeks, and I honestly think I forgot how the computer works!
