music calms the savage beast
I know that there are a few people that read me that workout, and I’m wondering: do you listen to music, and what is it?
I’ve found that I gravitate to fast, hard music: Tool, Rollins Band, 311, Metallica. Does anyone listen to mellow music while working out?

Hip hop all the way, man! Ludacris, N.E.R.D, Busta Rhymes, anything produced/directed/put together by the Neptunes. If I listen to something mellow, I fall off the treadmill because I’m trying to go with the music.

I love Moby if I’m doing cardio, because of the beat. If I’m running outside though, I prefer to listen to something a little harder - Rollins, NIN, etc.

I listen to whatever the gym is playing, and/or watch their stupid tvs.

music is a definite must. it helps detach you from the rest of the world, and focus on getting your best workout. well, except for the occasional perfect ass or nice rack that you’ll see bouncing around the gym. but otherwise, i’m focused!
during the actual workout, i’ll listen to mostly hard rock/metal (coal chamber, disturbed, and 80’s hair bands), and when i’m doing cardio, i listen to house music. i personally think that non-stop DJ house music is the best way to just zone out while doing cardio…

When I swam in high school, I would always listen to The Go-Go’s “We Got The Beat” before any of my events. Now, I prefer watching TV if I’m doing something indoors because I’m an efficiency freak.
