discounts galore
so…we went to Borders the other day to take advantage of their “buy 3 paperbacks, get 1 free” sale. I picked up:
The Complete Book of Hold ‘Em Poker: A Comprehensive Guide to Playing and Winning by Gary Carson — I’m sure that the recently poker explosion had to do with the fact that there were NO poker books to be found in the store!
and
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Calculus — it was either a $14 investment in this, or a $700 investment to relearn the pre-calc that I’ve forgotten so I can actually take a calculus class this summer…fun, fun, fun.
But…the best bargain was actually a hardcover copy of Jazz : A History of America’s Music, which was listed as $65 for $9.99! I don’t care if people think that Ken Burns didn’t do the greatest job of covering “difficult” artists and genres, the pictures in the book are worth the $65 alone!

Nice choice on Calculus books. I personally recommend that one–it was very fun to write. Looks for prequels in the Idiot’s Series soon! (I feel so George Lucas writing that.)
