we never got a casserole either!

so…Erika has talked about this, but I don’t think I have: will the spring weather bring the welcome wagon to our house?

Do people actually bake cakes and pies and casseroles and bring them over to welcome you to the neighborhood anymore? we’ve met a few of our neighbors, and there’s the polite head nod and the occasional wave, but there is no feeling of extension…you know?

Oooh, you mean it would help if we extended ourselves? Ooooh…okay…maybe once it gets warmer out…

READ THIS: shizzy’s email prank. Maybe this is what we need to do to get invited to the neighborhood events.

Well, the neighbors to our one side are nice, it’s a single mom with 3 kids. They plow our driveway for us once and awhile and look out for us. The neighbors to the other side won’t even answer the damn door when I knock on it with a letter for them, they just peek out the window and then ignore me. It think it’s funny, especially when it’s a notice from the gas company that they’re about to get shut off. It’s even funnier that the notice gets sent to me along with their bill.

We just moved a month ago and the neighbors seem to be friendly enough. Our one neighbir is great for snowblowing our driveway. The other side is a little old lady. Wait until spring/summer, and hopefully you’ll notice a difference. People are outside just so much more and not rushing to and from their car.

Closest we’ve come is when a guy came during the Super Bowl to say he had a bunch of food at his house that was going to go to waste because his friends didn’t make it to town for the game, so he was inviting the neighborhood.

Otherwise, I’ve never seen anything Welcome-Wagon-esque anyplace I’ve lived.

there is one guy across the street who introduced himself, and said he had meant to do it before but I always looked busy.

He said that he could see all the work that we were doing remodeling the bedroom…

note to self: neighbor likes to look in our bedroom windows
