I think it has been too long since I bitched about my job…
have I ever mentioned that I hate my job?
I don’t think it is the actual place itself that I hate, it’s just the type of people that work there…and I’m sure that there are versions of these people all over the working world!
I’ve been working on a new ecommerce project. The project needed to launch this week because I’m on vacation next week. So, we’re in our deployment meeting discussing times, and I suggest that we launch early tomorrow morning when traffic is at a minimum…like 8AM.
I get an email a couple hours later saying that the launch time has been bumped up to 4:30PM today because there is a downtime window that needs to be exploited around 3AM, and my changes need to be in place before that.
Ok. First of all, I don’t do 3AM. I understand that I need my changes out before anything can go forward, but 4:30PM?? What if something were to go wrong? I’m out of the office at 5:00-5:10 to catch my 5:45 train.
Oh, in case you haven’t noticed, I started writing this from the office around 5:25.
