computer shopping…at work

so…during the last round of layoffs, I acquired a new desktop at work. It’s not the fastest machine in the world, but it has a burner in it, which helps to pass the days.

anyway…the machine was just upgraded to XP, and one of the techs came by yesterday to drop off more RAM — now, being in the technology department means that we usually have to do our own work to the machines, which isn’t too bad. Well, the case wouldn’t come off of the machine, so I had to try and put the new memory in through a drive opening. Not very fun.

Powered it up: wrong type of memory.

Oh well…I just got 256MB of RAM for the desktop at home!!

And, while I’m at it, maybe I’ll take the hard drive from my old desktop and bring it home too!

I’m not being stupid, and writing about stealing company property here. With all of the layoffs that we’ve had, the company gives the old machines away. I ended up getting Erika a G3, and myself a Sony Vaio laptop during the last “fire sale.”
