I’m sore…but we’re dry
so…as some of you might have read at Erika’s: Our house leaks!
I think the problems stem from the old-as-shit-roof (which we knew about). We were going to replace the roof this summer, so now it just looks like we’re pushing up the timetable a bit.
During the height of the storm, we were collecting a gallon of water every 3 hours at one of the leaks!
I spent an hour Friday afternoon (after the rains stopped) on the roof surveying the problem. The shingles are old, and the water is either soaking through them, or getting under them through cracks that were probably made worse this winter with all of the ice. I patched up two spots with plastic sheeting, which should keep us covered (all puns intended) until May when we can do some more work.
I have a slight fear of heights: I don’t mind being on the roof, if I’m in one place, but I can’t stand getting on, and getting off the roof. It should make future repairs interesting…
so…today I woke up feeling like someone beat me with a duct-taped wiffle ball bat. I guess I was really tense while I was up there — it’s only the “hang on for dear life” muscles that hurt…
