ahhh…the weekend. Time to relax…NOT!
I love long weekends. With the start of summer-fridays at work, my weekend is clocking in at 3 1/2 days.
time to catch up on some rest? Nope. Not in this house…
Friday:
– Lunch with Erika and Alisa at Viet Thai, along with a couple of their old co-workers.
– Poker game in Exeter cancelled
Saturday:
– Yard work
– Helped Erika clean the house
– Big-ass BBQ. Erika, Druzba and Amytart, Su and Reilly, Jessie, and Jenn were all over for some grillin’ and chillin’.
Sunday:
– Gardening. We went an bought plants for Erika’s new garden box (side note: last weekend I bought 1600 pounds of topsoil and manure to fill said box). We definately bought too much for the small space that we have (48 sq. ft.): tomatoes, jalepenos, salsa peppers, lettuce, califlower, cucumbers, lavender, rosemary, basil, lemon balm, scallions, dill, coriander and chamomile. We didn’t planet the green bean seeds, or half of the califlower, and I’m sure we’re going to be transplanting something into buckets in the next couple of weeks.
– Cement shoes! Ok, not shoes, but a nice 3′x3′ concrete slab. I poured a concrete slab by the pool for the filter and pump to sit on. the old owners had the filter sitting on a piece of 1/4″ plywood that we all rotted out. I’ve never been known to fuck around, so concrete it is…I still need to run power to the slab — the old owners used to run an extension cord on the grass all summer long to power the pump…umm, no…
Monday:
– I spent the first part of this morning doing some research on the ship my Grandfather was on in World War II. It was sunk off Ie Shima. I got to talk to him a little bit about it in March when we saw him, but I decided to look things up on my own today — a very uncharacteristic thing for me to do. I need to call him today.
– We’re headed up to NH, to Alisa’s parents’ place for a little grillin’ and chillin’ and a boat ride on the lake.
– There was talk of a poker game with Reilly, but I think that had a lot to do with if it rained today.
