let’s go out to dinner and see a movie…

so…tonight is the opener for the last Phish tour. There is a satellite simulcast at a bunch of movie theaters, so I’m heading out in a bit to see it.

It’s time to play the “what are we going to hear” game (number next to song is the number of shows since it was last played — and the number of times out of the 16 shows I’ve seen):

Phish just came out with a new album on Tuesday (Undermind), so there will be a few songs off of that — Scents and Subtle Sounds (12), Two Versions of Me(10), A Song I Heard The Ocean Sing (never), or maybe Undermind (never) (I hope they don’t play The Connection (never)!)

The tour opener? I normally call Ya Mar(7 — 7/16), or Funky Bitch(18 — 4/16) as the opener for any given show, but as it is the opener of the final tour I’m on the edge between Dinner and a Movie (54 — 0/16) (I mean, come on, I’m seeing the show in a movie theater!) or Chalkdust Torture (3 — 5/16) or Divided Sky (5 — 3/16).

Songs I want to hear? Spock’s Brain (14 — 0/14), Bathtub Gin (4 — 4/16), Buried Alive (2 –1/16), Down with Disease (2 — 5/16), Wolfman’s Brother (0 — 3/16), Gumbo (1 — 3/16), It’s Ice (17 — 2/16), N.I.C.U. (4 — 3/16), Lizards (11 — 1/16), Punch You In the Eye (11 — 3/16), You Enjoy Myself (0 — 3/16), What’s the Use (10 — 1/16), Frankenstein (0 — 3/16) and Fluffhead (54 — 1/16)

My stats, so far

I had feared the same things as you (wookies abusing the theater) but our crowd was quite nicely behaved! They totally should have done the simulcast thing WAY sooner.

Did you really think you’d get a YEM after Trey’s crappy comments in RS?? ;)

You did get a Frank - it’s cool but I still like the production on the original best :) I called Dinner and a Movie too - extra cool, though it would have been nice of someone to give us a shoutout too (instead of just doing Kung for the US Open!).

Dude, if I never hear the ocean sing a song, I’ll be happy. That tune makes me want to jump IN the ocean. Ugh.

All in all, a nice tight show. Only 4 flubs that I noticed :) Hope you liked it too!
