Monday Morning Quarter-in-the-Jukebox: It’s Wednesday morning, where are my CDs?

so…I used to be very particular when it came to my CDs; everything had to in its place. My CD collection was alphabetized and I almost had a library-esque check-out system in my head. I think it all came from living with people who didn’t care about my CDs — I lived in one apartment where I would find discs lying on a gritty hardwood floor, out of their cases, business side down.

well…for the last couple of years I have relaxed a bit and it has created the “where’s that damn CD” game.

I love following natural progressions, so I’ve decided to take a journey through a handfull of CDs and see where it takes me…(we’ve played this game before) :

Start:
1. Descendents “Somery” contains “Somery” (1) as well as The Derek Trucks Band “S/T” (1A — the case is not at my desk) AND “Gone Phishing: a bluegrass tribute” (1B)
1B. “Gone Phishing” contains Mark Knopfler “Ragpicker’s Dream” (2)
2. “Ragpicker’s Dream” is empty.
3. Miles Davis “Live at the Filmore East 3/7/70″ contains Grateful Dead “Go To Heaven” (3A) AND David Grisman Quintet “5/28/77″ (3B — no case) AND Medeski, Martin and Wood “1/13/99″ (3C — no case) AND Garcia/Grisman “5/7/92″ (3D — no case).
3A. “Go To Heaven” contains The Slip “Live @ High Sierra” (4 — no case)
5. Jack Johnson “Brushfire Fairytales” contains Miles Davis “Pangaea Disc 2″ (5A)
5A. “Pangaea” contains “Mingus at Carnegie Hall” (6 — case not at work) AND The Marshall Tucker Band “Capricorn Years Disc 1″ (7 — case not at work) AND “Brushfire Fairytales” (5!!) AND Dave Matthews Band “Busted Stuff” (8 — case not at work)
9. “Tenacious D” contains Phish “A Live One disc 2″ (9A — case not at desk) AND Tom Waits “Rain Dogs” (9B)
9B. “Rain Dogs” contains Rage Against the Machine “S/T” (10 — case not at work)
11. Percy Hill “Double Feature Disc 1″ contains Percy Hill “Sun Machine single” (11A — no case) AND Steely Dan “Aja” (11B — case not at work)
12. Grateful Dead “Dead Set” contain Beastie Boys “Check Your Head” (12A)
12A. “Check Your Head” contains The Beatles “White Album Disc 1″ (13)
13. “White Album” is EMPTY!

I could keep pulling cases off the stack, but lets get to the music:

Descendents - Coolidge

David Grisman Quintet - Minor Swing

Percy Hill - Sun Machine

The Slip - Cumulus

Steely Dan - Deacon Blues

The Beatles - Why Don’t We Do It in the Road
