firefox hunt
so…I’ve made the conversion to FireFox, and life is good.
Ok…life was good until this morning when I noticed that if I click on an area of whitespace or a non-link in a tabbed browser window to focus on it, FF is now putting a cursor on the page, and when I scroll, it jumps from line to line, like I was using Word or something.
It’s freakin’ annoying!
Does anyone else have this problem? Any help?
[edited: Ok…so I fixed the problem. It’s called “carat browsing” and it is toggled using the F7 key. Damn cats laying on my keyboard!]

I’ve been trying to use Sunbird. I like it, but I’m having a few issues with it…
First, I tried to install the calendar extension for FF, and it worked really well. I entered all sorts of information, and was using it for about a week. Then FF1.0 came out, and I upgraded and my calendar died. Information lost. And any subsequent installation fails and hanges FF.
So, I’m using SB now, and it seems to work, but I’m still guarded.
I’m not saying that I want to go back to IE/Microslop products, but I’ve never lost data like that, and I don’t really like the open-source stuff enough to want to accept the risk. yet.

Sunbird can use your old .ics (iCal format) files that you used with the plugin version of Calender for Firefox…. since Sunbird Calendar uses iCal standard files, you can also download all kinds of calendars (movies for the year with reviews in the notes, etc - for example, http://www.kottke.org/05/05/summer-movies-calendar ) that can add cool data to your calendar.
And after adding a few iCal calendars, each calendar can be turned on/off in Sunbird easily so things don’t get cluttered. Each calendar can also be a different color in the display, so you can have an iCal calendars for Work, Personal, etc that are easy to differentiate. Hope that helps!
