open letter to spammers…can a call out to the blogging world
you win! I’m tired.
I left MT behind because of its predictable and unchangable comment posting methods, figuring that with the flexiblity that WP allows I could shut you out. That worked for a while. Of course, I had to receive 4500 comment spams before I could change the locks and close the door.
My efforts only stopped you for a brief time; you were slowed at best. Like other parasites you found a way to get it, and leech off this, which is mine…and I don’t remember inviting you or offering you a plate at the table.
Blogs are refreshed frequently, and help increase search engine rankings through cross-linking…conditions under which spammers thrive! Here’s a dose of vaccine:
If you’d like to help make a difference, please take some time and enter the URLs that spammers leave behind into the various spam reporting applications provided by search engines. Sure, it takes time, but so does deleting spam, which, by the way spammers you owe me at least a few grand for my time and effort spent ust deleting your crap on top of the money I should charge you for renting this space and bandwidth. Dicks!
so…the terrorists have won. I’ve found that the only way I can deal with this is to require commenters to register. I know that for some this sounds drastic and I am in no way trying to sound full of myself here not do I think that I am the only one affected by this. I’d love to hear from you and I’m more likely to keep going if I feel that I’m not a pawn for the cockroaches of the internet.
