another 10 cents, and people have lost their minds

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

so…an update to yesterday’s 4-cent gas increase:
I got off the train this evening, and the price of regular gas had gone from $2.639 to $2.739, and every pump had at least 3 cars lined up!
I know that this is nothing compared to other places — I’ve heard that some stations in Atlanta have run out […]

tastes like burning

don’t you hate when a non-coated tablet of some drug or another gets stuck to the roof of your mouth, then the back of your tongue, and then every 8 centimeters down your throat?

4 little pennies…seems so small…right now

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

so…to update yesterday’s gas story:
yesterday, gas by the train station was $2.599
this morning it was $2.639
I honestly expected a major knee-jerk reaction and a 10-cent jump, but 4 cents doesn’t seem too bad, just yet…
…I still think that at least 1 or 2 places in Lowell will be at $3.00 by the end of the […]

so…with the potentials of $3.00/gallon on the horizon as early as the weekend, I filled up my tank this morning on the way to the train.
$42.70!
True, I drive a Jeep. True, it’s not the best on gas for my short, 1-mile commute to the train. True, I only fill the tank once a month…but still! […]

seen on a t-shirt in Boston:
“Life is a breeze, when you’re Lebanese”
I guess I can only achieve so much, and then that’s it. Maybe life can only be either still or down-right windy…

of mice and men: build a better mouse trap, and the world will ask you what is wrong with a store-bought trap

Friday, August 26th, 2005

so…we have a mouse.
When I started working on my convert-the-garage-to-a-workshop project this summer, I noticed the remnants of what could only be called an advanced civilization of mice — we’re talking buildings, paved highways, supermarkets, and an elaborate elevator system in the walls. bring on the weekend!

man! I’m glad this week is over! It hasn’t been an overly stressful week, but it seemed to stall on the Wednesday hill and come to enough of a standstill to grow moss…

Let me tell you a little story? I once knew a guy who could have been a great golfer, could have gone pro, all he needed was a little time and practice. Decided to go to college instead. Went for four years, did pretty well. At the end of his four years, his last semester […]
