you know how to take a reservation, you just don’t know how to keep the reservation

so…I have this travel mug, which I got at StarFucks…I’m normally pretty against them, not so much for their potentially shading business practices, but just because a cup of coffee shouldn’t cost more that $1.50!

anyway, if the mug works well (read: doesn’t spill on me when closed), I don’t care where it comes from. The mug should also keep things warm, and up until today it did…now we have a problem.

In the 15 minutes that it took me to pour my coffee, add my soy milk, and walk to my desk, stopping no less than 3 times to discuss high school-like work dramas, my coffee became cold. Not luke warm. Not room temperature. Cold.

Now, the mug feels warm. It’s good to know that the isolating air is at the correct temparature, but what about the coffee? It’s not like I put in a ton of freezing soy milk — it is definately more than I would put in at home, but my limited knowledge of chemistry still allows me to know that 8 oz. of 175-degree coffee plus 2 oz. of 45-degree soy milk does not create 10 oz. of 70-degree drink.

Maybe I should just cut back on the coffee altogether…maybe I’m all hopped up on caffeine and I’m just getting paranoid: the coffee mug from StarFucks can tell when the coffee in it is not from there and revolts, driving you to return to the point of purchase, where you know that the coffee was hot!

Man! It’s only Monday morning and I’m starting to think like that!
(edit: Ok, so Erika wasn’t just busting my balls: I left off the “that”)
