the coasters’ 15 minutes of fame
so…did I miss the memo that got sent around on using beer coasters in new and inventive ways?
First is was the lazy bartender coaster and now it’s the public service coaster
One of the coasters add resses this exact problem: “Keep it down on your way home! It’s common sense. Creating excessive noise in the community can cost you $200.”
“The goal of these are to help educate people, and let them know they will be held accountable for their actions,” Evans said.
The second offense depicts public urination - specifically, a stick figure standing over a bush with a dashed-line representing urine in between.
“Go before you go!” the coaster warns. “Peeing in public can cost you $150.”
“It’s a community health issue,” Evans said. “This isn’t just targeting students, it’s for the whole community.”
What about the “wrap that rascal” coaster? Or, “don’t drunk dial?”
“I think the concept is clever, but the images might give people ideas for the walk home from the bars,” said Petria Hill, a junior in Spanish.
Yeah, that’s it. These coasters are going to give people ideas for the walk home. Man, I must have been a freakin’ genius when I came up with the idea of being loud AND peeing in the bushes on the way home from the bar without the help of a coaster!
