in response to my last post, here is a snippet of an IM convo I just had with Erika:
Erika: “knowledge of chemistry still allows me to know that 8 oz. of 175-degree coffee plus 2 oz. of 45-degree soy milk does not create 10 oz. of 70-degree drink.”
is that chemistry or algebra?
or both?

so…I have this travel mug, which I got at StarFucks…I’m normally pretty against them, not so much for their potentially shading business practices, but just because a cup of coffee shouldn’t cost more that $1.50!

anyway, if the mug works well (read: doesn’t spill on me when closed), I don’t care where it comes from. The […]

Man! This really picked up the end of my day!
I don’t think this is real, and if it is I don’t know who they are, but aren’t we all able to replace the names and places for people we know…

Dear Davey:
I have had a difficult time, over the past few years, achieving closure […]

Red Robin settles lawsuit over tattoos
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a religious discrimination lawsuit brought by the EEOC on behalf of a fired employee.
Edward Rangel Jr., now 26, waited tables at the restaurant chain in Bellevue, Wash., for about six months in 2002.
A new manager fired him over religious […]

so…I’ve mentioned the hand washing/general bathroom behavior problems here at work before, and I thought that this article was interesting…if only because it proves that my company is SO NOT NORMAL!
About nine in 10 American adults say they wash their hands after using a public restroom, but only about eight in 10 actually do so, […]

I LOVE telemarketers!! LOVE them to bits!!!
I just got a call from a “student at UC-Berkeley” asking me if I would be interested in taking a survey, and wondering if I was the responsible party for my business online needs. At my job! Not at my house, at my place of employment!
This would mean […]

so…I know this is “old” news, but I haven’t been the most up-to-date on things around here, and I haven’t really been feeling quite myself as far as making fun of the world…
The Shrub’s little note:

I understand that he isn’t used to UN meetings, and his girlfriend, I mean, Secretary of State Rice has more […]

Monday Morning Quarter-in-the-Jukebox: babies are abound!

Monday, September 19th, 2005

so…in honor of the weekend’s births, today’s selection of songs are baby/kid/birth/beginnings-related in some way or form…even if they’re just mellow…

Israel Kamakawiwo’ole - Over The Rainbow
Jerry Garcia & David Grisman - Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Phish - Billy Breathes
The Slip - Nellie Jean
and, completely unrelated, but if Druzba can offer an Eric Carmen […]

so…I cleaned up the basement on Saturday and dusted off the weight bench and actually worked out!
It’s been about 6 months and, damn!, I’m in a lot of pain! I’m in that can’t-put-my-shirt-on, can’t-lift-my-coffee-to-my-mouth pain.
so…does anyone want action on when I’m going to get sick?
