updates

so…just when I had started to make an effort to get a post up every day I go silent. Much going on and very little time to talk about it.

let’s see…

– I got a new job. After being unemployed and trying to live a stay-at-home dad’s life I’m now a 9-to-5er.
Well, an 8-to-6er as I only work Tuesdays through Friday. It’s a contractor position with a strong possibilty of a full-time gig — I turned down the full-time offer because I didn’t want to change health insurances before Samson’s next surgery. I’m doing a few .NET projects — it’s nice to have some variety in my job — including at least one Windows applications, which is a first for me. Being out of the house all day sucks!! It’s such an abrupt change from how things have been since we brought Sammy home from the hospital — not to be cliche, but when I came home on the first day I think I asked if he had grown (I mean, it was only 12 hours, but it felt like a week).

The IT department at the new job is very strict about internet usages. No webmail — no gmail — no personal web usage. It’s a huge change from my last company. So, no blogging from work. I can’t even take a moment out of my day to check out my flickr to look at pictures of Samson — Erika has to send me pictures to my phone just so I can get through the day!

– Samson spent a few days this week at Children’s Hospital. Our cardiology appointment last Tuesday revealed a small narrowing in his aorta where there was some scar tissue after they tried to fix his coarcation. We went in on Monday for a heart catherization and a balloon dilation. It was very weird being back there — there was no need to figure out how things worked, so it was comforting and sickening at the same time. Everything went well *knocks on wood*. His cardiologist was very happy with the results, and they managed to get a good look at his heart so we’re going to avoid another pre-op cath and his sedated echo next month! The downside to all of this is that Sammy seems to have picked up a stomach virus — he’s very happy and hungry, it just comes out in a foul way on the other end! We’re home now and looking forward to a nice, quiet, long weekend.

    Hey –
Sorry to hear about the job :-)

I have been back to working full-time again and I hate it. Serena wants to start up a garden business though, so the idea of a consistent income seemed a good one.

Sorry we missed you guys when we were up. We might be up in July, but definitely November, so will try and catch up then.

Take it easy and talk to you soon
