I’m thinking of picking up some sherpa work on the side

so…the building that I used to work at did not allow you to use the stairs. The doors to the stairwells were locked from the inside — once you got into the stairwell you had to go to the lobby or stand there and knock, hoping that someone would hear you.

I used to blame my Mountain Dew schwilling-sitting on my ass in front of a computer for 12 hours a day-fat-assedness on the fact that I couldn’t take the stair.

Yes…I see the flaw in that argument.

Well, not anymore!

My new building has an open-stairs policy.

There are 122 steps from the lobby to the 7th floor. I’ve managed to walk down them at least 3 times a day, and back up once.

Add that to the 2.5 miles that I’ve been walking round trip to and from the train, and you’d think those pounds would just be melting off…

you’d think…

…maybe…

…maybe it’s the beer…

When I used to live in New York Ciy, I had 188 stairs between the subway and my front door, if I chose not to ride the subway station’s escalator. I rewarded myself with ice cream each time I walked all the stairs. Does all that extra exersise equal the calories? I don’t know, I’m not a nutritionist, but in five years, I never did notice a difference…

I also worked in a building where we were not allowed to use the stairs. I worked on the second floor, and felt like such a tool each time I got into the elevator to go up one story.
