When I used to live in New York Ciy, I had 188 stairs between the subway and my front door, if I chose not to ride the subway station's escalator. I rewarded myself with ice cream each time I walked all the stairs. Does all that extra exersise equal the calories? I don't know, I'm not a nutritionist, but in five years, I never did notice a difference...

I also worked in a building where we were not allowed to use the stairs. I worked on the second floor, and felt like such a tool each time I got into the elevator to go up one story.
