the one where friends and family get together to eat, drink and be merry

so…a very relaxing 4-day weekend is about to come to an end. All weekend we’ve been saying that “today feels like Sunday, but it’s only Friday,” unfortunately today feels like Sunday, and it’s actually Sunday.

Today we had Alisa and Jeff, Su and Jay, and Amber and her fiancee, Samantha, over for brunch. It was nice to have a full house for the day. Good food: Alisa and Jeff’s stuffed, upside-down, pecan, awesome french toast, a bacon, cheddar and gorgonzola egg bake that I made up, and a ton of great pastries and bakery treats; good drink: mimosas, screwdrivers, and various Smuttynose beers; good times: meeting new friends, watching football, catching up, and a few naps (for the kids…and for Su).

Sammy tried to played with Keegan and Isabelle, but with the 3-year age difference, that really amounts to him crawling after them and trying to tackle Keegan — I still think that he learns so much after playing with older kids…and that means tomorrow he’ll be driving. It’s amazing what he can do now. He crawls all over the place, pulls himself up to standing and is getting really good at cruising and moving from one thing to another. He’s moving into the phase where he says “hi” and waves at everything: the tv (whether it is on or off), the refrigerator, pictures, the fan, the light…

Now if he could only wave “hi” to another day tacked on to the weekend…
