so…it’s my birthday today.

I really hate when people can’t do their job correctly.

Last Wednesday I stopped at the parking garage to renew my pass. Normally they give you until the third of the month to renew, but I hadn’t renewed my pass in February so there would be no such perk for me.

I made sure to mention this to the lady behind the counter, and she assured me “it’ll be active tomorrow morning, hon.”

Thursday morning, access denied — I drove to the other entrance, showed my receipt, and was told they’d have it fixed for the next day.

Friday morning, access denied — second verse, same as the first.

Saturday night, Erika and I went out for the first time in over a year, without Sammy. Sure, we’d gone out to dinner before when he was a few months out, and we’d made a few day trips without him, but this was a 7-hour, nighttime affair.

We all did very well.

We went and caught Eddie From Ohio at the Somerville Theater. It was a great show — Julie is back at full vocal strength after a battle with breast cancer and the prolonged treatments.

We got together with Su and Jay, Uncle Ted, Susan, Suzy, Juile (different one), and Mom and Pop Reilly and had dinner at the Joshua Tree.

Here is something that struck us odd: I had ordered a couple of scotches for me and Jay after dinner, and when the bill came, they had charged me 50 cents more because I got mine “on the rocks.”

50 cents for ice!

Ice!

We asked the waitress about it and she didn’t have a good answer, but she tried. Something about a heavier pour to compensate for watering done, blah, blah…

I asked her if I gave her the ice back if I could get a return on my deposit…

not so much…

This morning, my parking pass was still not activated!

And I didn’t have my receipt today, but oddly, I believed that it would fixed.

Anyone want to bet on whether I get in tomorrow without having to plead my case — and curse a little?
