stop the Imus insanity

so…I really don’t give a shit about Imus; I don’t care if they’ve suspended him, fired him, or gave him the fucking keys to the city. Seriously…a radio talk show host saying something offensive to someone IS NOT NEWS!!

I think what pisses me off the most is that because he called a women’s basketball team a bunch of “nappy-headed hos” I can’t escape the insanity: it’s all over sports radio; all over sports tv; can’t it just all be over?

I had the displeasure of reading Dan Phelps, of the Lowell Sun, this morning (sorry, no link…their website doesn’t have the article, and it would be a pain to put the link in on my phone). He broke down the situation, and while I tend to feel that all things out of his mouth, or pen, are wrong (slightly redunant: Dan Phelps and wrong in the same sentence, but hey, if Diego can talk about the “windy wind” and the “snowy snow”…), are they really considering the “ho” part as the racist statement? His article never once mentioned “nappy-headed” which I’ve always thought was a pretty clear, racial euphemism.

Shit! I’ve been calling Wendy a ho for years! Because she is one, not because she’s black!

Nobody walks around saying “some of my best friends are hos” when accused of being a bigot — hell, some of my non-friends are hos too…am I racist for not like them?

News wire: this just in…being a slut is a now a race.

Can’t we get a good celebrity-baby’s-daddy scandal or celebrity marriage-divorce, and get back to some real news?

Seriously, it was way too much. I mean sports talk radio shows were doing 4-5 hour shows on Imus and Imus alone…. Thank god we’ve moved on…
